Abstract

Rencana ini membincangkan komunikasi antara pengetua dan guru berasaskan dapatan kajian di daerah Hulu Langat, Selangor. Rencana juga membincangkan secara terhad, hubungan dan kesan bentuk komunikasi terhadap kepuasan kerja guru. Komunikasi pengetua diukur dengan menggunakan soal selidik Supervisory Communication Scale (SCS) manakala kepuasan kerja guru diukur menggunakan Indeks Kepuasan Kerja. Didapati bahawa tempat bentuk komunikasi yang kerap diamalkan oleh pengetua ialah penerangan kerja, maklum balas, ekspresi positif dan penglibatan. Bagaimanapun hanya komunikasi penerangan kerja, maklum balas dan ekspresi positif mempengaruhi kepuasan kerja guru. Cara guru-guru perempuan berbanding guru-guru lelaki, juga guru-guru yang berijazah berbanding guru-guru tidak berijazah, menilai amalan komunikasi oleh pengetua iaitu adalah sedikit berbeza. This article discusses communication between principals and teachers based on the findings of a study in the Hulu Langat district of Selangor. To a limited extent, it also discusses the relationship and effect of types communication on teachers’ job satisfaction. Types of communication among principals were determined using the Supervisory Communication Scale (SCS) while the Job Satisfaction Index were used to measure job satisfaction among teachers. The findings showed that communication types commonly used were job explanation, responses, positive expressive and involvement. However only job explanation, responses and positive expressive were found to have contributed meaningfully towards teachers’ job satisfaction. Female teachers viewed the way the principals communicate differently form their male counterparts. Graduate and non-graduate teachers too showed differences in their perceptions.
